"Future Physical" have just announced that digital artist Masaki Fujihata will be creating a major new artwork "Coast Digital", from Saturday 16th - Sunday 17th August 2003, on Mersea Island in Essex, England and is looking for residents and members of the public to participate.

The work will involve walking, GPS (Global Positioning System) devices and video cameras to map the participants movements over the island and shape it just as both tides and the weather do. All data collected will be used by the artist to create an installation to be exhibited in November.

The opportunity to participate in a major art work is rare and places are limitied so to get involved, contact "Future Physical" by telephone: 0207 357 0823 or email: coastdigital@futurephysical.org

Turbulence's current studio feature emphasizes Gregory Chatonsky's new work World Report. Here is part of the press release:

"THE WORLD REPORT associates three fluxes: a textual flux of continuous, syndicated information (RSS feed); a vocal flux (UN mp3 radio); and an iconographic flux. The informational flux is translated into pictures in realtime by the Google search engine. The association between text, sound and image is literal and testifies to the information ‘illusion’."

Dear Net Art Review Readers, I am finally back from InteractivA 03. In the near future, I will be posting an account of the events that took place during my stay in Merida, Yucatan. For now I will state that the biennale ran into major short-comings; but more on that later.

In the mean time, I recommend reading Steve Dietz's response to the net art community's open letter addressed to the Walker Art Center. I think recommending Dietz's letter is appropriate because what happened at InteractivA is another manifestation of the economic dire straits affecting net art; and Dietz's comments give an interesting perspective on how to deal with unexpected events.

"Ctheory Multimedia" has just released its fourth issue curated by Arthur and Marilouise Kroker & Timothy Murray entitled "Net Noise".

"Tracking and coding the currents of sound in digital culture, "Net Noise" presents works by Akuvido, Simon Biggs, YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES, Shu Lea Cheang, Takuji Kogo (Candy Factory), Christina McPhee, MEZ, Plasma Studii, Michéal Sellam, Zvonka Simcic, Tanja Vujinovic, Jody Zellen."

"Net Noise" is the sound of art on the network, everything from "dark noises" to "almost undetectable whispers of splicing, mixing and mutating noise into a brilliant tattoo on the skin of the digital". Some of these works will be very familiar and have been seen previously in other exhibitions but for the less known works and artists this exhibit is well worth a look.
